How SQEasy protects your study data

Last updated: 29 May 2026. This policy explains how SQEasy handles personal data for the SQEasy web app and the downloadable SQEasy iOS app.

1. Who We Are

SQEasy is an SQE1 study product for candidates preparing for the Solicitors Qualifying Examination. References to "SQEasy", "we", "us", or "our" mean the operator of the SQEasy web app and iOS app.

If you have questions about this policy or want to exercise your privacy rights, contact us at privacy@sqeasy.app.

2. What Data We Collect

The SQEasy web app may collect account and study data when you create an account or use authenticated features. This can include your name, email address, exam sitting, priority subjects, daily study goal, knowledge level, subscription tier, study session history, answer history, spaced repetition progress, flagged question reports, and basic platform usage records.

The SQEasy iOS app is designed to work as a downloadable offline app without a backend. The iOS app stores onboarding choices, study progress, answer history, session summaries, streaks, and analytics locally on your device. We do not receive that local iOS study data unless a future feature clearly asks you to export or share it.

3. How We Use Data

We use data to:

  • provide SQE1 flashcards, study sessions, and mock practice;
  • calculate spaced repetition schedules and progress analytics;
  • personalise onboarding, priority subjects, and study goals;
  • process account access, subscriptions, and support requests;
  • review flagged questions and improve content quality;
  • protect the service from abuse and diagnose technical issues.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not use your private study answers for unrelated advertising profiling.

4. Legal Basis

Where UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we process personal data on the following bases: performance of a contract when providing the app, legitimate interests when improving and securing SQEasy, consent where required for optional cookies or marketing, and legal obligation where we must keep records.

5. Storage and Security

Web app account data is stored using managed service providers such as Supabase and hosting infrastructure used to run SQEasy. We use access controls, encrypted transport, and provider security features to protect data.

iOS app study progress is stored locally on your device. If you delete the app or reset local progress, local study records may be removed from that device. Device backups are controlled by your iOS and iCloud settings.

6. Cookies and Analytics

The web app may use essential cookies or similar technologies for authentication, security, and service operation. If SQEasy adds optional analytics or advertising cookies, we will provide the consent controls required by applicable law before setting them.

The current offline iOS app does not require tracking for its core study functionality.

7. Payments and Third Parties

If you purchase a subscription or paid feature, payment may be handled by a third-party payment or app-store provider. Those providers process payment information under their own privacy and security terms. SQEasy does not store full card numbers.

We may also use infrastructure providers for hosting, authentication, databases, email delivery, analytics, and support. They are used only to operate and improve SQEasy.

8. Data Retention

We keep web app account and study data while your account is active or as needed to provide SQEasy, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and maintain security. Local iOS data remains on your device until you delete the app, reset local progress, or remove it through device settings.

9. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, restrict, or object to processing of your personal data. You may also withdraw consent where processing is based on consent.

To make a request, email privacy@sqeasy.app. We may need to verify your identity before acting on a request.

10. Children

SQEasy is intended for SQE candidates and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as SQEasy develops. Material changes will be reflected on this page with a new "last updated" date.
